That’s why we’ve compiled this FAQ page - to answer your most common questions and guide you toward the right solution with confidence and ease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tracks

Converting from steel to rubber or vice versa can sometimes be problematic so don’t risk it unless you must. For example, many machines have different track spring tension settings between steel and rubber track machines. Other machines run alternate sprockets, idlers, or even rollers.

In most cases, changing tracks requires specialised equipment and expertise. It’s recommended to hire professionals or consult with our friendly team for more information.

In most cases, you can switch back to steel tracks if needed, but it may involve added costs and time for conversion.

Safety is paramount when changing tracks. Ensure that the equipment is secure, follow proper procedures, and use the right safety gear. Consider hiring professionals for the task if you are unsure. Our team is more than happy to guide your purchase decision and answer any questions you may have about our products.

If you are choosing to convert your steel tracked machinery to rubber, be aware that there are a few differences in equipment that can affect measuring and tension. It is best to speak with one of our friendly team prior to buying to avoid any after sales hassles.

We understand that when things get busy or when machines break down, sometimes you order replacement parts without measuring first and end up with the wrong part altogether.

And if that happens, we’re here for you.

We accept any and all returns of rubber parts providing they meet the following criteria:

  • Products that are not defective (which will be at our absolute discretion), returned in their original, unopened, sealed package, and in new, saleable condition can be returned within 90 days of date of purchase.
  • Please note that all returns are subject to a handling and administration charge of $25.00 or 10% of the invoice value to a maximum value of $500.00. Furthermore, you will be responsible for all costs and expenses incurred (including any freight charges).

Pads

Bolt-on rubber track pads are durable rubber pads that attach directly to the steel tracks of excavators, dozers, or other tracked equipment. They provide protection for sensitive surfaces like asphalt or concrete, making them ideal for urban projects or work in Australia’s residential and commercial zones.

  • Surface Protection: Prevent damage to roads, pavements, and finished surfaces.
  • Reduced Noise: Minimise noise levels, especially important in urban areas or near residential zones.
  • Improved Traction: Designed for excellent grip, even in wet or uneven conditions.
  • Easy Installation: Bolt-on pads are straightforward to install or replace without removing the steel tracks.

These features make them popular for Australian infrastructure and landscaping projects.

Yes. High-quality bolt-on track pads are designed to withstand Australia’s diverse conditions, from the intense heat of the outback to the high rainfall in tropical regions. They’re ideal for applications requiring minimal surface disruption while working efficiently in challenging environments.

Inspect track pads regularly for wear, cracks, or loose bolts. Replace them if:

  • The rubber is significantly worn or cracked.
  • Bolts are stripped or corroded.
  • Pads no longer provide sufficient traction.

On high-use machines common in Australia’s mining and civil projects, replacements might be needed every 1,000-2,000 hours of operation, depending on the workload and environment.

  • Bolt-On Pads: Attach directly to the steel track using pre-drilled holes and bolts. They offer a secure fit and are suitable for heavy-duty applications.
  • Clip-On Pads: Use brackets to clip onto the track. They’re quicker to install but may not provide the same durability for rugged Australian worksites.

Bolt-on pads are recommended for projects requiring a long-lasting and secure solution.

  • Inspect Regularly: Check for wear and loose bolts.
  • Clean Often: Remove dirt, oil, and debris after each use to avoid premature wear.
  • Tighten Bolts: Ensure bolts remain secure, especially after operating on uneven terrain.
  • Choose Quality: Invest in premium-grade pads suited for Australian conditions.

Most bolt-on pads are designed to fit a wide range of machines, including excavators, skid steers, and dozers. Always consult the supplier’s compatibility chart or use tools like our parts finder to confirm fitment for your specific model.

With many Australian cities undergoing significant urban development, bolt-on pads protect sensitive surfaces like roads, parking lots, and pavements. They help meet local council regulations requiring minimal surface damage, noise reduction, and safer operations near residential areas.

Buffers

Drum mounts, or rubber buffers, are rubber components bonded to steel plates. They isolate the drum vibrations in compaction rollers to reduce wear on machine parts, ensuring smooth operation and extending the lifespan of the equipment.

Regular inspections are essential, especially on high-demand projects. In Australia’s tough working conditions, drum mounts should be checked for cracking, tearing, or general wear at least every 250 hours of operation. If more than 25% of the mounts show damage, replace the entire set on the affected side.

Neglecting worn drum mounts can lead to reduced performance, equipment downtime, and safety risks on-site. For Australia’s infrastructure and mining projects, where reliability is critical, replacing mounts promptly avoids costly delays and ensures compliance with Australian safety standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4024.1).

Yes! Australia’s climate, from extreme heat to high humidity, can be tough on rubber components. To maximise the lifespan of drum mounts:

  • Clean regularly to prevent build-up of dirt or corrosive materials.
  • Store equipment in sheltered areas when not in use.
  • Use high-quality drum mounts designed for Australian conditions.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines or consult Australian experts for best practices.

Absolutely. Australian equipment often features mounts suited for varied tasks, such as infrastructure projects or mining operations. Local suppliers can recommend mounts tailored to your machine type, whether it’s a ride-on roller or a walk-behind compactor.
